The Open Mouth Reading Series is a community-based poetry series located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We host a monthly reading featuring poets whose work we love. We also host an annual fall festival, workshops, and a summer poetry retreat featuring visiting faculty.
We are a federal 501(c)(3) non-profit, and every dollar you contribute goes toward providing additional programming to the Northwest Arkansas community. We hope you’ll take part in our vision!
Changes to our upcoming schedule
Due to the developing situation with CoVID-19, Open Mouth is cancelling several of our upcoming events, hopefully to reschedule in the near future. We care about the health, safety and comfort of our community as well as that of our guest readers, and encourage all to continue to monitor the situation and make responsible decisions to protect their health and well-being. We'll get back to our regular schedule as soon as we can!
Fund a Scholarship for our 2020 Retreat!
Thank you to everyone who replied to our summer poetry retreat with torrin a. greathouse and Jake Skeets! We had a record number of scholarship requests this year. Tuition is $350, and we would like to help this retreat be feasible for as many poets as possible. If you would like to help by funding a scholarship or partial scholarship, please email us at email@example.com to set it up.
continues to grow
every year, and
we'll soon be able
the lineup for the
first half of 2020!
In the past several
months, we've been in touch with wonderful authors who want to visit Arkansas for the first time, but have had to turn us down because we can't provide travel funding. All our current funding goes to paying reader stipends, and expenses related to hosting and to special programs. That's why we're launching a travel funding campaign! Our goal is to raise $6,000 by the end of January 2020, which would enable us to pay for flights and/or gas mileage for every visiting writer in the coming year.
If you'd like to help us make sure poets reach our community, you can donate via PayPal, sign up to give regularly on Patreon, or contribute to our traveling poets fund on GoFundMe. Every little bit counts!
